Its Orctober again!

Nothing particularly new to add this Orctober, at least not yet, so I thought I'd document some of my older Orc units. Probably painted between 1989 and 1990.

This week its my Orc spears.  Some of you might recognize the banner from the Heroes for Wargames book. Back in 1989 we didn't have home printers, copiers were rare and color printers were near non-existent, so yes I cut it right out of the book.

Have a nice day!

  1. Ha ha ha! That's the exact banner I'm going to use for the Orc regiment I'm working on right now! Beautiful regiment. Great work and very classic looking unit!

    1. You should definitely use the banner, it's awesomely iconic... or Orconic. Someday when I get around to revamping that unit I plan on painting the same banner by hand.

I just realized both the blue moon banner and evil sun banner from the back of 'Heroes for Wargames' are also featured on my blogs background picture!

  2. Cracking looking unit of orcs there. No printers or whatever back in 1989, life seemed so much less complicated.

  3. Yes, I think I cut pictures out of magazines for some banners too.

They look pretty good for their age. Much better than I was producing back then....or even now for that matter :)

    Top job.

  4. Excellent job sir, I love seeing how people painted their stuff in the past and these are top notch particularly given how long ago it was you painted them. I take it I can add this to the list of Orctober stuff and put you in for the possible prize, though I doubt I have anything you don't to give you.

    1. You can certainly add me to your Orctober stuff I always enjoy a little recognition, but yes if I win something re-roll the die or pull another name out of the hat, my lead mountain is already near collapsing point.
