More Orctober: Everything else

Well it looks like Orctober is coming to close so I better get the last of the old Orcs posted up.  I'm sticking to units that are strictly Orc mind you, the month isn't long enough to include the other Goblinoid types.

One small unit of crossbows and a small unit of savage Orcs:

Here's a few I've blogged about previously, The Ol' Rusty Axe Gang, the Knuckledraggers and the Eastern mercenaries.

And lastly a few warmachines. A well used Dog Cart, Man-Mangler's little brother and one of Notlobs bolt throwers which I just managed to finish painting this month.

Well that's it for now, time for me to dive back into lead mountain.

I hope you all enjoyed your Orctober.
Have a great week,

Orcyboy

More Orctober: Black Orcs

Here we come to my unit of Black Orcs.  A bit of a mixed bag, mostly the mid 90's (1993?) variety.

I very much like the earlier Nick Lund sculpts but they are generally a bit too short. The Bob Olley/Iron Claw variety is also excellent and very unique but I never owned many of them at the time.

By the time the mid 90's variety rolled out I really wasn't into Warhammer and didn't pay them much attention to them.
So this unit was mostly collected and painted in the 2000's when I got back into Warhammer (6th ed). I'm using good old Mighty Ugezod as their leader with a bit of extension to his horns as he was suffering from a little horn envy being surrounded by all those 90's Black orcs.
The 90's Orcs have grown on me over the years and paint up well so long as you move away from the bright red and checkers that was prevalent with GWs paint scheme of that era.

Like I said the unit is a mixed bag and includes Black Orcs from all eras: Nick Lund/Chronicle, Bob Olley/Iron Claw, Marauder and GW, there is even a couple of the new armored storm trooper type lurking in the back ranks.

For the record, I went on a mad Iron Claw Orc spending spree a few years back and I'm pretty sure I now own at least one of every Iron Claw Black Orc including the minor variations.

Have a nice day,

More Orctober: Orc warriors

Here's my main Orc warriors unit.  Painted with varying skill levels over multiple years.

Mostly metal but bulked out with the old plastic Orcs from the Warhammer Fantasy Regiments box set.

I also pulled out a few of my favorites for closer pics, not necessarily the best painted just some of my favorite models in the lot.

The Boyz on the far left and far right of this pic are the first Citadel orcs I ever bought, the one on the right could use a re-paint.

Thanks for looking-

More Orctober: Arrer Boyz

And here we have my Arrer Boyz. The bulk of them coming from Harboth's Orc archers box set, which was one of my earliest Warhammer purchases.

Harboth himself was originally painted with my toothpick and Testor enamels technique, though he's since been touched up a few times over the years but you can still catch the gleam of his original enamel base coat.

The banner is actually a space Ork banner cut out from the Warhammer 40,000: Chapter Approved book.

Also note some are still on their original well intended but flawed multi-bases.

Have a nice day,

More Orctober: Marauder Orcs

Continuing with documenting my old Orcs, painted for the most part before the turn of the century.
This week I present my Marauder Orcs.

If they're not Citadel they better be Marauder was my philosophy of the time. Although I personally prefer the Perry and Kevin Adams Orcs of the same period I hold few qualms against Marauder's versions.

All good Orcs are a fare mix of mischievous and malicious and I'd say Marauder Orcs tend to slide a little more towards mischievous then their Citadel counterparts but not detrimentally so (such as the shit eaten' grin motif of the 90's Orcs).
The biggest draw to buying Marauder Orcs was the price difference. If I recall correctly it felt like Marauder was a year or two behind Citadels price tags, so you could get the same number of Orcs per pack for a couple dollars less.

Well anyways here's my Marauder Orcs. Mostly painted in the very early 90's.
This is not their original banner however and I'm not too happy with it. I had to repaint the original around 2005 which had featured Bill the Cat but had faded out. In their day I had christened the unit Deathtongue.

Have a Nice day,

Its Orctober again!

Nothing particularly new to add this Orctober, at least not yet, so I thought I'd document some of my older Orc units. Probably painted between 1989 and 1990.

This week its my Orc spears.  Some of you might recognize the banner from the Heroes for Wargames book. Back in 1989 we didn't have home printers, copiers were rare and color printers were near non-existent, so yes I cut it right out of the book.

Have a nice day!
